Stay within the payload listed for your model, spread the load evenly and low, and secure it before you move. Overloading wears tyres, springs, brakes and the clutch faster, and makes the vehicle harder to stop.
Know your limit
Each MRL cargo model has a rated payload, listed on its vehicle page and in the owner's manual. That figure includes everything you carry, not only the goods.
Where overloading does damage
Springs and suspension
Sagging springs and cracked mounts.
Tyres
Overheating, faster wear and blowouts.
Brakes
Longer stopping distances and faster pad wear.
Clutch and gearbox
Slipping and early failure, especially on hills.
Loading safely
If you need to carry more
If you regularly carry close to the limit, a larger model may cost less to run over time. Your branch can talk you through the options.
